Uploading files to Next Cloud using a link

This is a quick how to guide for uploading files to Next Cloud when someone (probably Anna!) has asked you to do it and sent you a link.

Below is an example image of a link. It will probably start with a website address (like greencloud.gn.apc.org) and send with some numbers and letters.

Email with link to Next Cloud folder

Click the link

First things first, click on the link in the email/message. This should open up your internet browser (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Safari Internet Explorer or Edge).

The browser will show a page like the one below, with a thick blue line across the top and some buttons.

Click the plus button

Next, click the plus icon at the top left of the screen. It looks like this close up:

Click the upload file button

The plus button, when clicked, produces a dropdown which will give you a variety of options – sometimes more or less than in the image below.

You want to click upload file.

Find the file(s) you want to upload

When you click the upload button it should open a file browser dialogue, showing you the files on your computer.

You need to navigate through your folders to find the file(s) you want to upload.

For example, you might go to Documents > Work > Newsletters > 2010.

When you have found your file you can select it – usually just by clicking on the name of the file.

If you want to select several files, usually this can be done using shift-and-clicking multiple files or by clicking the file at the top of the list and then holding shift which you click one at the bottom of the list. It depends what Operating System you use (Windows, Apple or Linux).

Click the Open/Upload button

Once you have selected all your files you need to click a button to upload them to the Next Cloud. Usually this button will be highlighted. It will be labelled Open or Upload or Select depending on your operating system.

Once you have clicked this button the files will begin to upload to the cloud. You might see a status bar or buffering symbol. Just wait till it is finished. Let it run – don’t close the tab or browser till the upload is finished.

When it is finished you will see all the files in the Next Cloud interface on your browser.

You did it! Well done!
